The season comprises a series of seven to nine races, starting in December or January and ending in March. The courses alternate between slalom and giant slalom. League races are held at the Lake Tahoe resorts, drawing participants from each of the singles clubs in the Bay Area. All competitive levels of racing are welcome, from beginners to elite standing. Yes, that includes snowplowing beginning skiers! You will race against other participants of similar ability. These are strictly amateur events. Pins, trophies, and the undying admiration of your club are some of the rewards. Racers who have participated during the regular season are also permitted to represent the Singles League in the Northern California finals, held at one of the Lake Tahoe resorts in March, and in the Far West Championships, held in March or April, at a different west coast venue each year. More About Snowboard RacingThe Singles League was the first skiing organization to include snowboard racing in the race schedule. Snowboarders race on the same dates and on the same courses as skiers. Pins and trophies are awarded, and points count towards the club totals. You may ski AND board race if you choose. The San Francisco Ski & Snowboard Club fully embraces this exciting sport, and hopes to see you on the hill. Racing Spirit Racing can be fun. It's as competitive or as frivolous as you want. There are many benefits that come with racing, like camaraderie amongst the clubs, and special suites at functions. Best of all is that, at whatever level you ski or board now, you will learn to ski or board better! |

OK, here's the
full information on the March 1 to 2 make-up weekend, from Craig Faitel!
Due to the storm that moved in on Sunday, February 24, we missed one more race. We only had 68 Singles League racers at Northstar on Saturday, February 23, for the combined GS race with Sierra League. Due to the small turnout, and to the fact that we are down three races, Singles League will be putting on one make-up race at Sugar Bowl on Saturday, March 1, a slalom race. Registration: Judah Lodge 7:30-8:30 a.m. Be on time! 10:00 a.m.--Expert Course, S0-S5 11:15 a.m., Advanced Course, S6-S8 12:15 p.m., Beginners Course (last 10 gates of the Intermediate Course) 12:30 p.m., Intermediate Course, S9-S10 Lift tickets: Downstairs at special tickets. Let them know you are racing with the Singles League. Adults $47.00 per day, youths $39.00 per day. Early lift-8:30 a.m. Each club should send Craig names of one to three gatekeepers, depending on club size. If one of a racer has not helped yet, this would be an fast and easy day. Some racers will be joining the Sierra League on Sunday for the Super G race. If you want to do the Super G with the Sierra League, and have never done one before, please contact Craig. Any racer level S0-S5 will be OK to join the race without a clinic, just go 90% for your warm up run. Contact your race director, Brian Healy, (415) 250-0244 (M), for further information. |
