Board
of Directors Positions
President
- Serves as chief
representative of the club
- Provides general
supervision and direction for the club
- Presides over weekly
club meetings and monthly Board meetings
Vice
President
- In the absence of the
president, is the chief representative and presides at
weekly club meetings and monthly board meetings
- Member of the club
Finance committee and responsible for club insurance
- Participates in club PR,
advertising and marketing as required
Director
of Activities
- Host two annual planning
meetings and develops two six month activities
calendar
- Ensures that the
development and execution of activities/events represent
broad and diverse interests of club members
- Member of the Finance
Committee
- Ensures that activities
and events are financially sound and with the treasurer,
provides financial advice to other activity leaders
- Participates in planning
of trips/activities, but it is generally expected to select,
appoint or find other members to lead trips/activities.
- Responsible for updating
the activity calendar on the Club's Web site, Skigram,
telephone hotline and weekly Hot Sheet.
Also distributes as appropriate, e -mail blasts alerting members to
select
activities.
- Announces club
activities at weekly club meetings
Director
of Trips and Cabins
- Ensure the smooth
opening and closing of the Tahoe cabin
- Negotiates and signs new/existing
seasonal cabin lease
- Select/appoints/finds
weekend trip leaders
- At weekly meetings and
via e-mail, telephone, takes member reservation and
payment for cabin stays
- Ensure smooth running of
the cabin throughout the season
- Serves as liaison
between members and property management co.
- Arranges for wood
delivery, snow plowing, cleaners
Director
of Racing
- Attends SL Racing
monthly/bimonthly meetings
- Publicize/promote
participation in the club's race team
- Helps plan/host the
annual "Racey Affair" event
- Creates/submits race
expenses budget to the Board
- Registers SL racers at
weekend races
Director
of Membership
- Works toward building
and retaining club members
- Keeps a database of
membership and maintains/distributes club roster
- Organizes the annual New
Member Open House
- Welcomes and introduces
new/prospective members at weekly meetings
- Distributes new member
applications; reviews them and presents a
Membership Report to recommend applicants at monthly Board meetings
- Oversees annual
membership renewal
Treasurer
- Maintains financial
reports including The Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss
Statement, Check Register, and other reports as necessary
- Member of the Finance
Committee
- Provides recommendations
regarding investment of club funds
- Oversees club
activities/events from a financial standpoint. Consults with
Activities Director/Leaders to develop budgets for all activities
that require
expenditure of club funds in advance of collection of income from
participants.
- Reviews all Check Requests and Final Accounting Reports of all club
activities/events.
- Makes copies of all
checks received and makes timely deposits of all income'
executes a reconciliation of monthly bank statements.
- Reviews and pays all
club invoices/check requests
- Alerts the Board to any
potential or actual financial issues
- Investigates what Ski
Club tax filings are appropriate and to prepare/file such
forms
Director
of Administration
- Responsible for the
annual Board elections
- Plans/executes the
annual spring banquet
- Takes on club projects,
as needed
- Maintains club property
list, including sound system
Secretary
- Responsible for making
the official record "Minutes" of the Board proceedings,
issues and decisions
-Takes and transcribes
notes from monthly Board meetings
- Maintains supply of
official club stationery
Singles League Rep
- Attends monthly Singles
League meetings and serves on a SL committee
- Is the liaison between the club and SL
- Publicizes SL
events at club meetings, on the Club's Web site, Skigram and in
all other communications to members
- Sells/handles tickets for SL events
- Assists with the annual
Snowball
Bay
Area Council (BAC) Rep
- Attends monthly BAC
meetings and serves as the liaison between the club and
BAC
- Publicizes BAC events at
club meetings, on the Club’s Web site, Skigram, and
in all other communications to members
- Sells/handles tickets for BAC events
- Administers the discount
lift ticket program

Webmaster
- Keeps
San Francisco Ski Club web site sfskiclub.org
up-to-date with club and league information
- Posts
news provided by the Board and club members
- Writes
announcements and adds graphics/photographs to keep members informed and make
the site attractive and engaging for members, prospective new members
